TRI-CARD POKER INTRODUCTION
Also commonly known as Three Card Poker, it’s said that the game was originally invented in England in the 1990’s by an Englishmen poker player by the name of Derek Webb. When he first developed this game it was originally called Casino Brag and it was inspired by games whereby the player would play against other players rather than the house. Playing Tri Card Poker can be a very enjoyable experience especially if you like playing normal Texas Holdem and also like playing standard casino games such as Blackjack or Video poker. In a nutshell, the simplicity of this game is very attractive for beginners.
How to play Tri Card Poker
In Tri Card Poker ante/play, the only thing the expert player needs to know is how high his or her hand should be to produce the best possible long term results, if played. The answer to that question is Q-6-4 or higher. The following is a quick overview of how the game is played. Usually the game is played with 52 cards.
Tri Card Poker Betting Types
There are commonly two types of bets available. Prior to being dealt cards, each player can make a bet on one, both of them or the player can fold and not bet on either option. Ante and Play is referred to as a bet that the player’s card will beat the dealers cards. A Pair Plus bet is a bet on the quality of the cards you were dealt independent of the cards that the dealer is dealt. The hand rankings in Tri Card Poker are similar to standard poker, as follows: High card: three cards of different value, not of the same suit and not consecutive, whichever is the higher card wins. Pair: two cards of equal rankings and one of different rank. Example: 7 7 K. Flush: This is three cards all of the same suit. Straight: Three consecutive cards which can be mixed suits. Between two straights on the board, the one with the higher ranking card wins. Three of a Kind: refers to three cards of the same rank, example 7 7 . And finally, the Straight Flush which refers to three consecutive cards of the exact same suit. Note that there is no ranking among suits. Hands that have the same combination and equally high cards, differing only in suit, are tied.
